Blue88Comanche
What are some signs that the power steering pump or steering box are going bad?
Alexia
Steering Pump - Usually hard to steer or notchy. Mine was that the front bearing blew up and took a bunch of stuff with it. Steering Box - The gears wear out and there is a noticeable dead spot switching from left to right.
TheDirtyJeep401
My old power steering pump was squeaking really bad, and at times it would be hard to turn the wheel.
Blue88Comanche
So I think the power steering pump may be on its way out. it has been getting slightly harder to steer, and I think it started making a new noise. when I replace it should I get a new one or a JY pump. any potential upgrades? Thanks,
TheDirtyJeep401
I haven't seen many people modify pumps to fit. I would go with a new one, that has a warranty. The reason being, I bought a new pump, then about 3 months later it went out. And it had a 1 year warranty. There might be some with a lifetime warranty. Unless you had to, I would not go with one from a JY
