Comanche Dies Unexpectedly

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am a proud owner of a 1988 comanche eliminator. I have been having an issue that I was hoping someone could help me diagnose. The engine came out of an early Grand Cherokee (done before I owned the truck). He put the auto trans in the jeep as well. During these cold months here in Indiana I occasionally bust some drifts around the farm and drive through the woods to look around and check on cattle. When its cold the jeep will run great until I run it hard to get through the snow or just trying to get somewhere. When i do this it will occasionally stall and kill itself. It will fire right back up, but will do this multiple times. I am not sure is an electronic issue or what. Just looking for some answers and thoughts. Thanks!

It only does this in the winter when i run it hard. It has done it once during the summer, but its not as common as the winter. It runs like a top otherwise. I have not changed the fuel filter. the truck had 5k on the rebuilt engine at the time of purchase and the previous owner claims to have went through everything in the truck, but i have found he lied about a few minimal things. Once shop room opens up I will look into the filter and see if its fuel related. Thanks!
