The doors on my '92 are about shot. I've found a decent price on a set of front doors from a 97 Cherokee. They're appealing since the seals, etc would be that much newer and the newer door panels. Few questions:

1) Will they bolt right up? Hinges/latches/etc all the same?

2) My truck currently has manual windows/locks. Will I ever be able to get the power windows/locks/mirrors to work? If each door gets a hot wire and a ground and possibly a wire run between the 2 doors is anything else needed? Or is there much more to do in a fuse box somewhere?

3) Anyone else done this?

thanks for any help!

I too am looking at doing this swap. The one thing i like about them is that you get bigger door windows. And belive me when i am at mc donaolds trying to pay for my burger and i hit that vent window every time.So i am interested in this swap too.

I believe the door strikers are diffferent. Also they are torx head bolts, I recommend replacing them with the appropriate size allen heads.

There should be some sort of regulator needed for the window motors, but those may be in the doors. Check on that, otherwise you might burn them up.

ok i read that other thread, so the doors just bolt on, but i need to put the 97+ stricker on?

Yes, but it won't fit directly, it will need the holes wallowed out a bit to bolt onto your existing door frame.

Seals?

On all my Cherokees and Comanches, the seals are mounted to the body, not to the door. How is swapping a door going to get you newer seals?

the holes as in the mounting holes in the hinge? thast no big deal then :)

no, not the hinge, on the striker plate.Go to that link I mentioned earlier, it has pictures of the whole process.

yea they didnt load for me... no biggie tho. couldnt you use the latch out of the older door tho?

The strikers on the new doors are not only a different type, they are at a different height on the door. I read that article on NAXJA, and my sense is that he left out a lot of information. I wish we weren't on opposite ends of the continent, because I'd like to look at his swap "up close and personal."
