jmeslo Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I've got the u bolts off but I can't get the center bolt that runs through the leafs to come off it just spins and there's no way of stopping it since they are rounded bolts not a real bolt. Any ideas on getting that center bolt off?
ParadiseMJ Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 :agree: Cut it. You're going to have to replace it anyway
Eagle Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Agreed -- cut it off. Although I've had good luck clamping the round head in a pair of Vise-Grips. It helps to clamp the leaves together on both sides of the pin with C-clamps to take the load off the nut.
Pete M Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 absolutely have a C-clamp holding the leaves together, just in case there's any built-up tension that wants to release suddenly when you cut the bolt.
jmeslo Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Ended up cutting them off, tried the vise grips but it still spun. She's ready for the new rims and tires in the morning!
91 Manche Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Interested in the rims if you want to sell them. Where are you located?
