chappy88
Hey Guys, I have to change both coil isolators. Anyone have any tricks to get the bumper (jounce) off without causing to much damage? Looks like the only way to slide the new isolator on.
87Warrior
The jounce bumper is threaded into the coil mount/fender well. Get some big ol' pliers and twist. It will unscrew like a bolt.
chappy88
its been there 25yrs, I don't think its going to cooperate that easily? I think your right though ....I was hoping for a miracle cure
ParadiseMJ
Kroil, PB, Liquid wrench, ATF & acetone mix (careful). Patience, work. Miracle
87Warrior
You should be able to squirt some PB Blaster inside the coil mount from under the hood. You can also apply some heat to the coil mount to help things along. They came out pretty easy in my '86 (once I figured out they were threaded in place), which has been in the rust belt since '86. ftpiercecracker1
3ft Pipe wrench. I watched a video on installing coil spacers not that long ago and they made mention that some of these "bumper" dealybobs can be welded or simply non removeable. They were working on an 89 cherokee. However, i just added coil spacers to my 90 and they were a snap to remove with my good ole pipe wrench.
