Mj Number 2!

Recommended Posts

So I guess the MJ bug bit me pretty hard... In March I posted up a "my first MJ thread", and now here it is, just about 3 months later, and I've already got another one. I picked her up last night and she is beautiful! Well... Will be beautiful. The first one is going to end up getting put up for sale, and this is going to become my main build. It is so rare to find a Comanche with no rust in the mid atlantic/north east area, that I just couldn't let this one slip by. It needs a few minor things, but all in all, it's in great shape and ready to be built on! I am going to pull all the Jeeps out into the driveway for a family photo shoot this weekend, and I will update this thread when I do. For now, enjoy a few pics of my new purchase and let me know what you think...

Oh yeah almost forgot... It's a 1988 2WD long bed with a 4.0L, AW4 auto trans, and 170k miles on the clock...  I would have liked a 4x4, but look at those frame rails... NO RUST!!  I've got a transfer case and D30 front axle, just need to find a 4x4 AW4...

Dam that this is clean keep your other one for winter and this one for summer.

I would love to, but I have a limited fund... I'm down to about $1,600 to do everything I want to both my MJ and my XJ.  Somethings gotta go, because so far my wish list is about $6,000.

Anybody need a kidney? I'm sure I could get by with 1...

Great find....I know how ya feel on finding 1 after another, lol

I drove just about 2 hours to get my first one, and pulled it back on a dolly.  A month later, this one popped up about 25 minutes from my house and I pass it about 3 times a week for work.  It's in better shape, and was only $500 more.  I went and saw it, and then let it sit on craig's list torturing me for about 3 more weeks.  Finally, after a bunch of sweet talking and sales pitches, I talked my wife into approving the new purchase.  Now my driveway is starting to look like a used Jeep lot... She's a good woman...

That truck has been sitting on Craigslist for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.  I didn't realize it was so clean underneath or I may have given it a second look.  What'd you get it for?  It originally listed about 7-8 months ago for $2500.  It left CL for about a month and came back listed at $1,800.

I definitely got a better deal on this one than my last one... Picked it up for $1500 bucks.  The guy I got it from couldn't have been nicer.  He is an older guy and has had it since 2004 and it has spent most of its time in his shed.  He never even got it registered.  He just used it to move stuff around his house/yard.  He replaced the whole exhaust, and all the brake lines recently.  The rear brake line still needed to be replaced, and he took care of it this week before I picked it up.  The rear sings pretty loud, but I'm going to grab a Ford 8.8 d2 off my buddy anyway.  The owner before him opened the drivers door and it got smashed off, so right now it is just tack welded in place and sags pretty badly, so that needs to be fixed.  Valve cover gasket needs replaced, but he included a felpro gasket with the truck.  Idles high at startup.  I already bought a full tune up kit and throttle positioning sensor for my other MJ, but never installed it, so it will go on soon.

I'm very pleased overall though.  I'm really excited to start working on this one.
