pug Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 1990 2.5 idles high after warmed up 1200 -1300rpm. If i turn off engine for acouple minuts idles 600-700n rpm. Any idea what it could be.thanks
TheDirtyJeep401 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 On mine it was the throttle cable, it would stick and it would have a very high rpm, to where i had to stomp on the pedal in order to get it to stop. might want to look at that.
pug Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 Thats what i was thinking to.Last summer driving home throttle cable broke. Had high idle replaced with new one never did idle back down unless its at start up or i shut off for acouple minuts
cruiser54 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Know what causes the cables to stick? A bad ground from the firewall to head. The system ends up grounding through the cable, which heats it up, and melts the plastic housing.
vaquaro Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 :yeah that: Aaah so , I'm going to try that to remedy same on-going problem :D
