Rokhound
Rear end chirps when in 4wd what’s up? Different gears front and rear is my thought because it only does it in 4wd but I check the tags and there 3.55 so I guess I will pull the diffs off and check the gears. Or is there is anything else that would cause this.
Eagle
Are you running in 4WD with a 231 (Command-Trac) transfer case on pavement? If so, that's a big NO-NO.

Mine is living proof of that. It's just hard on the tires, u-joints, axleshafts, gearsets, side/spyders, the tcase chain... Whatever. The tires will chirp a bit. Rokhound
i have no clue what is what on this truck so yeah is an auto and i think that it will be the last one I own. Not that I don't like the truck because I do just not the auto thing. And what is up with the power/comfort switch I no that you guys were saying something about it on here but at the time I did not own an auto so i forgot what you guys were say and any way mine is broke. So is it that big of a deal or what?? Thanks Watson
Oizarod115
well, if your power/comfort switch is in power all the time itll shift later and use up more gas. comfort shifts way earlier and is rather smoother.

The point is, if your transfer case is a Command-Trac, you aren't supposed to be in 4WD on pavement. The Command-Trac transfer case was the standard case with the automatic, and the ONLY available t-case with the 5-speed.

DirtyComanche
Thanks guys I was on payment just to try it out so stay away from the street and I will be ok I say flog it. Mine has about HALF of its life being 4wd on the street. There was only minimal chain stretch, and no other signs of damage. But, 4wd on the pavement really isn't necessary most of the time! Rokhound
i had just got the truck and thougth what he!! i will see if it locks in so that was the whole point of being on the street. Thanks guys for the info. We'll have to see where this on goes if i lift and all that stuff more than likely going to put a five speed in it.
