jbain
I would like to do a 97+ Dash and harness swap but I've already installed the motor. Has anyone done this conversion without removing the engine? I can remove the engine again but would rather not. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 87Warrior
I see no reason why the motor would prevent you from swapping the dash. Sure it will be tight accessing the two HVAC box bolts near the passenger rear of the motor, but not impossible. The driver/passenger side firewall mods should be able to be done with the 4.0 sitting there.
relyt120
my understanding is that u r gunna have to modify the firewall so its probably advantageous to have the engine out. I stand corrected. Edited April 16, 2013 by relyt120
Alexia
The only issue that would difficult to fix is the hole for the newer AW4 shifter cable.
jbain
Thanks guy's, I've already upgraded to the 97+ shifter and cable before swapping to High Output the first time (originally a column shifter truck) so that part is already complete. I guess I'd better go talk to my buddy with the 98 parts Jeep and find out how much the dash and harness is gonna cost me.
