ftpiercecracker1
You seriously need to visit jeepstrokers.com if you want to do this right. wide ban O2, fuel management, blow off valve, oil lines, down pipe configuration, just for starters, its complicated. Detonation is going to be you #1 enemy. 8psi is the most boost i have ever heard being used in a 4.0 reliably. I talked with a guy at great length a while back who built a turbo stroker 4.7 for his MJ, i can't remember how much boost he ran, but when it was all said and done he had put 18K into the motor alone. But then again he was makin 600hp and 650ft/lbs , no bullsh*t . Still, gotta looove that whistle.
mvusse
Detonation in a Renix? Isn't that's what the knock sensor is for?
ftpiercecracker1
There is only so much the ECU can compensate for, but you are right that it does help prevent detonation and that is why I would want to use Renix for a stroker. When you add Boost it changes so many dynamics its not even funny.
87manche1
Yea I'm not wanting 600 hp just a slight grab in the seat. 30lb injectors adjustable fpr 3bar map and 5-8 is the number for boost add a management system as i go. For how much I'm gonna drive it 3k miles or less a yr ive got time.

mountainman
Stock system not tuned for boost. forget it. either buy an AEM ECU and make a harness up or don't waste your money. Let me put it to you this way... if you dropped the truck off with me and said... boost it. I would remove the factory harness and ecu and wire up an AEM setup. With 10 psi and my tuner tuning it, youd end up over 300 to the wheels. if you try and "shortcut" it, with stock ecu and a bunch of bandaids... youre going to end up with a runs like $#!&, flat spot detonating pig that you can't seem to figure out all the kinks. Thats cause the factory ecu was never meant to recognize boost and it has no maps for the new torque curve thats going to exist. Have any questions just ask man. I do this every day and so its like sleeping for me. I enjoy making sure people don't waste money on bull$#!& setups that will end up breaking all the time and causing them to keep redoing it. My specialty is doing it right the first time so it does what you want and is as reliable as stock was.
ftpiercecracker1
Do you have any experience with Megasquirt? A while back i was planning on building my own turbo/stroker and spent hours on the web searching, calling, and annoying various people. IF i did everything myself and didnt go with crazy expensive parts, i probably could have done it for a little less than $1200, whether it would be "right" or not . . . :dunno: . Pseudosport
Definitely go with standalone engine management. Megasquirt is cheap and will do the job. You can even build a plug and play setup if you want to.
ftpiercecracker1
Just for my own personal information what other standalone management systems are you familiar with?
Pseudosport
Its been a while but I've messed with DSM Link, AEM, really old accel setup, and RomRaider.
