Trying To Identify A Winch

I recently bought a rig with an old WARN winch, the PO burned it up and just looped the cable around it.

 

I want to figure out what model it is so I can figure out if its worth fixing and so I can get parts.

 

The tag is destroyed but here is some pics.

Looks like a Belleview winch that was made from 1959-1973. http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/oldwarn.php

 

This is one of the first electric winches that phased out the older PTO driven styles. Essentially, they put a starter motor on a set of gears to drive it.

 

edit, I bet you can take the motor off and a good starter or alternator shop should be able to rebuild it. The rest of the winch shouldn't be too complicated to take apart and clean or repair.

so maybe a warn 5687 that would make it an 8000lb winch.

 

I will have to see if I can fix it, I'm thinking its just the motor that died. The guy was using it and it just quit.
