Dome Lights

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I've removed my factory pillar lights. I'm going to use some led light strips, and i just want them to run off my doors/dimmer switch. But I've got no power to the lights.

Fuse is good, power at the fuse block, but no under dash lights and no power to either side of the connector or on either side of the cab. I'm at a loss.

Side note: I found, on the drivers side pillar, a lone wire with a connector on the end....what's it fir?

The pink wire to the cab (dome) light connector should be constant hot. Do you have a connector for the dome light? Do you have a dash switch for a cargo light?

This might help you:

Granted, these are instructions for the Euramatec lights, but to run anything but the stock fixture you'll have to cut the wires at the connector and re-wire it for aftermarket lighting. Do the switches in the door work? Are they connected? I had to spray some WD-40 on my door switches as they were rusted up after 2 years in the barn.

Cut the connector off, hard wired in the led lights but i have no power to them. Nieither the jamb switch or dimmer seem to make a difference. They worked when i first got the truck. No power to the constant on wire either.

I'm as interested as you are. My dome lights only come on about 2% of the time when I open the doors. Sometimes they come on after my door has been standing open for a few minutes. I haven't pulled anything apart to look at it, but messing around with the switch when they're not on hasn't done me any good.

Can't help you though... just saying I'm in the same boat and sort of looking for answers. Solidarity, you know...

If you have power at the fuse block but none at the end of the pink wire, you have a break in the wire somewhere. Do you have a multi-meter (volts/amps/ohms) to check the wiring continuity? You'll either have to trace each wire, find and fix the breaks or replace with new wiring. If the lights don't work after you get power to them, you will have to check the wiring to the door jamb switches and the switches to make sure you have a path to ground (and a goog ground).
