xjustinx
So I bought an 89 Comanche with a lift and who ever put the lift on had the bright idea to hack the front bump stop mounts off half way. Was wondering what way I should go about fixing this. Just reweld a pipe over the existing one? I can get a pic tomorrow of the situation.
mnkyboy
You could make some from tube or just go the junkyard and cut some off an XJ.

mnkyboy
He says the mounts were cut off ,not the stops themselves.

Comanche County
That metal is pretty thick. You can cut some others off and weld em up. You could even add a bit of length to them also.

xjustinx
Aaaarrrggghhh! Missed that. My bad. WHY oh why do people do things like that? Beats me, but I think I may have come up with the fix. I'm gonna recut the hack job so its even then weld a washer with a captured nut onto the post so I can mount a generic bump stop. Then to take up the rest of the space I'm gonna get prothane spring inserts. I think that will do the trick.
mnkyboy
I would make sure to make the stops the correct length if you're truck is ever going to go offroad, even with full length stops my truck can just about spit out a 6.5" lift coil at full flex.
