Street Comanche Research/help

Sorry about this, ladies and gentlemen, but I've joined this forum for info on the Street Comanche. If I had the money (and the space) I'd have taken up MJRemi on his that was for sale.

Back in high school autoshop one of my classmates had a SC, and I still see him around town with it some seven years later. Can't tell you what number (I think I've actually told TheJeepNut about the one here in Oakdale, CA), but do know it's still running and looks like it could use a good polish and maybe repainting. That's from a distance, so it could be worse... next time I have the chance I'll go chat him up. Can't even remember his name, frankly. Might start with a "B?"

In any case, I have a blog, and the SC is coming to mind for one of those forgotten classics that would otherwise go unnoticed. Similar examples includ the VW PAssat W8 six-speed wagon with the sport package-- a very rare combination. Hell, even the W8 Passat is fairly rare. Another is the Saleen Ranger, using the long-bed 2.9L V6 Ford Ranger in a similar fashion as the Street Comanche-- "big engine" option, lower, body kit, sport buckets, manual transmission, etc.

That's the sort of cars I'm writing on for the blog-- odd/special cars or perspectives about them. Information about the Street Comanche would give me a little more insight about what makes it so interesting, as in changes, driving impressions, etc. As you know, it's not a well known vehicle, and trying to find out more about them is tricky. Also, would anyone mind if I use some good SC images? I always give links to where I get them down on the bottom, so credit still goes to your site/account. The readership isn't really big either.

Seeing as MJRemi and TheJeepNut are the two I'm aware of on here, I'll PM them to post on here. If there are others who'd like to add some insight as well, I'd love to hear it.

Happy to answer what I can for you..

I still haven't had time to put together the "Whats a Street Comanche" link on my site...

I suck. The story isn't all that complicated actually. More sad and maddening than complicated.

But time is always an issue for me it seems... I do lots more than maintain that site... :brows: but I poke around in here from time to time. I'll eventually start the build thread for #24 on here.

So ask away!

And do let me know if you find out what# the Oakdale 'manche is.... I don't see anything in my notes about Oakdale...

We need to recruit him for the list and add him to the registry. You can assure him I don't post personal info on there.

Just want to keep track of the trucks as much as possible.

Oh and as of 6 or 8 weeks ago, #25 was still available and for sale in OK.... lemme know if you're interested.

Last time I talked to the owner, he was firm on $2500 and it's a keeper (84k miles).
