JOMJ87
you could go with 97+ and make the front look new or go with older and have it look the same and as far as doors go I am not sure which year but i know that some have a diff latch system that can be made to work with yours. JeepcoMJ
the 97+ are the only ones with different latch systems. anything from 84 through 96 will work on your truck. even the hood as long as it's from a cherokee with the same engine as yours. get a door from a similar year if you have power options as you'll want that to be the same (they're not too different if at all but best be safe). You need an 87-96 to steal body parts off of. In 87 they moved the hood latched from the center, to the corners, to make room for the 4.0's rad. jbhill
hmm so the 84-86 XJs have a center hood latch? so i could replace the dual goofy crap that don't work on mine w/ a single one hmmm.
87manche
yes, you'll need the rad support as well, well, you might not ;)
JeepcoMJ
if you read closely, you'll notice i said as long as it has the same engine. they ARE the same through 88 on the 4 cylinders or through 86 on the v6 2.8. in 87 they changed to the 4.0 6 cylinder and THEN the hood and radiator support changed. jbhill, you'd have to do alot of custom work to make the center latch work...it would be easier to stick with the outer ones probably. either that or you will have to change the outer supports, as the earlier style radiators were narrower...and therefor had a narrower radiator support. JOMJ87
Do like me and put hood pins on it. Sorry to get off topic
JeepcoMJ
that's actually probably the easiest way. but i think jb is looking for the sleek look of a lowrider...
87manche
You may be correct then, I didn't see that in your post. I was under the impression that the core support changed for all modles in 87, regardless of motor. With the amount of work JB has already put into that thing I don't think changing the hood latch will pose a problem for him.
ekulrenlig
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you'll have to get a door from a 4-door cherokee.
Oizarod115
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you'll have to get a door from a 4-door cherokee. yeah 2-door doors are WAY huge. 4 door XJ and MJ doors are the same
