I have a MJ rear end drum to drum. Must be picked up in Elysburg PA 17824. Stamped code "C" Price is $150...price drop. $100

Do you know the axle ratio? Was the donor a 5 speed or auto?

I just Googled the "C" code and came up with 2.87 I think it was a auto transmission...it's been about 5 years when it was brought home from a pick and pull.

M20's were only offered in MJs in 1986,

and all 1986 M20's were 4.10 geared.

 

I don't have the letter codes handy,

but typically for AMC 20's

one letter stamp = open axle

2 letter stamp = limited slip

and also tonight I removed the cover and found this to be true. "C" = 41/10 and it's open. a little bit of condensation rust...gears and carrier look great. oil was nice shape

AMC guys love this axle because it's AMC big car width & bolt pattern with 1 piece axles.

 

Try Craigslist, with AMC in the title,

I bet it would sell on Ebay too, if shipping wasn't such a pain.

I had the thought today that I should have asked him to pull & sell me just the axle shafts for the $100

(shipping the shafts only)

Would have been more of a hassle for him, so I guess it worked out for the best in the end.

And it went to an AMC guy :)
