Since weather is cooled off today I fired up the heater on the way to work this morning. I noticed something odd to me, when set on heat it only blows on the floor. I switched to the other settings: defrost blows on defrost, vent blows through dash, and all a/c setting blow through dash.

Does this sound like correct operation?

Yuppers! heat is really feet, if you want heat on your body/face put it on vent and just move the thermostat over to heat. I don't think there is a split half feet/half face setting.

yeah, it's a little odd the way it's labelled. The top slider is direction and the bottom slider is temperature. I don't like hot air blowing at my face, so having it labelled heat sort of makes sense to me, but yes, it's misleading.

My understanding is that one of the a/c settings blows both up and down, but I don't know what would happen if you run the a/c with heat... At least that's the way it works in my Dad's 85 Chevy which has the same hvac controls as my 91 MJ. We used that setting to pump heat between the front seats to the back of the van because otherwise it got pretty darn cold back there...
