Hey guys I don't know who is a gun expert on here or if you have this gun or not. I'm looking at getting this gun. Just for fun and really nothing more for now. But there are so many different models. I was wondering if anyone could tell me their opions about it. And where they got theirs. I'm not wanting a bigger rifle I have those already. I have other .22 long rifles already but not assault rifle. Any help would be greatful.

S&W MP15 - - Overpriced IMO - - But, if $s are no concern I'd choose the Colt M16--22 mostly for the historical connection - Pair it with the 1911-22 if you're into the Rambo thing - - - Just wanting military style? - Both a Mitchell Arms PPS50/22 & a Ruger 10-22 with MG34/42 kit can be had for less with $ left over for one of many M16-22 clones. - - - - - Got my FFL close to 40 yrs ago - Licensed as a 'Smith - Not Looking for/wanting new business. - - - - - Images - Colt - Mitchel - Ruger.

I've heard comments on it. And I have seen and been told the bolt on the smith and Wesson works unlike the rest of the assault rifles that are .22.

There is also a sub caliber bolt and mag that you can add to any Mil-spec M-16 or M-4 variant. Best of both worlds then, you can plink with the .22 or hunt with the .223.

If were in the market for either I'd buy Colt or S&W. Those are the best quality IMO.

Best if U enjoy scrubbing 22LR lead from the bore - - - - Anyway, Think my previous was a little vague about cost - U can have ALL 3 - PPS, MG34/42 & a Clone for less $ than one S&W - - - - Also, the PPS pic doesn't show that it has a drum mag - U can find drum/snail mags for the MG too - If U can live without a round mag U can add an M1 kit & have all 4 for about the same $ as the S&W

I am a big colt fan also I have been told the colt Ar-22 is made off shore somewhere. That Ruger M1 carbine looks really cool may have to check it out!

No like I said I'm looking to just have a fun gun. I have read some reviews on the colt tho. They said it has the style of an ar but the s&w is more like an ar on the insides. But round wise I have to play by Cali rules. And only ten round mags. From the reviews it seems likenthe s&w is a better gun to buy out of the three. I still going to wait tho. See if something changes.

Smith has some nice stuff made here and lifetime warranty on most if not all of there guns. If it were me I would go with the Smith Wesson I have a few of there hand guns and have been looking at there AR`s pretty hard.

^^^^ This. And scrubbing the bore is the least of the problems. Shooting .22LR ammo really clogs up the gas tube system, and then your AR won't work when you put the 5.56mm bolt back in and want to shoot "real" ammo again.

The M&P is okay but I would look first at the Colt/Umarex. And then I'd look very hard at a dedicated .22LR upper from Model 1 Sales ...

I'd just like to state that an assault rifle is used to assault somebody. None of the firearms posted in this thread are assault rifles.

The gun I am wanting is assault rifle wise the s&w is an almost exact replica of an assault rifle 15 the colt isn't. From the videos i have seen and dueling the home work colt isn't like the s&w or close to an assault rifle. I'm not looking to shoot 5.56mm. I just want a good .22 assault rifle. I have asked a couple people now it comes down to name not really the guns. I still have a open mind about it.
