Keyav8r
Does anyone know the size for the bolt that attaches the brake hose to the front wheel caliper on a 88 MJ? The metal end of the hose at the caliper is flat and square with a hole drilled through it. The attaching bolt is cross-drilled where it fits through the metal hose end and drilled down the shank to amaze a flow path into the caliper body. I tried Advance Auto, but they don't list one for Comanches. Have several 10mm X 1.5 mm of differing length. Haven't tried Quadratec or others yet. Thought someone here could just pull the PN out of their a, er, out of thin air. I've replaced rear brakes except drums (they cleaned up well) rotors, rear hose and am working on calipers and front hoses next. Thought I might as we'll replace the bolts too. Keyav8r
What the heck! Should read " drilled down the shank to provide a flow path"' not amaze a flow path. Must be getting tired and letters running together.
mvusse
It's called a banjo bolt. Should be included with the brake hose as well as a brass washer to keep it from leaking.
Keyav8r
Got the washers, but no bolt. I searched "brake hose bolt" on Advance Auto site and it brought up a lot of different sizes but not one that was for a 88 MJ. Guess I'll have to pull one and take it or measure it to match up. I was trying to get rebuilt calipers and hose installed before I broke the connection. Trying to minimize brake fluid drainage from the line and the amount of bleeding to follow. I'll just stock up on brake fluid and plan a day to bleed (still rear proportioning valve).
