best donor for 4x4 swap

I'm gettin ready to do a 4x4 swap and am looking to get a donor truck and was wondering the best vehicle to get would be. my truck now is a 90 with 4.0 and auto tranny thanks

what do you want out of your truck in the end? daily driver? trail monster? how big of a tire?

somwhere in between lol 31s will be the biggest tire I run probly. I won't do know serious off roading. just muddin and haulin my boat

Another 87 through 90 MJ with the same engine and transmission would be the best donor, followed by 87 through 90 Cherokee. The only difference with the Cherokee is that it doesn't have the correct length rear driveshaft. Even so, I would suggest the Cherokee and then pay a drivetrain shop to have your 2wd driveshaft cut down to the length you need.

when I do the swap can I use the rearend already in my truck or will I have to use the rearend out of the donor.

If the donor axle has the same gear ratio as your current rear axle you can keep yours. If the gear ratio is different you will have to swap the rear axle as well, but unless it comes out of another Comanche you will have to cut off the spring perches and have new ones welded on.
