New tank leaks when full
comanche32 replied to comanche32's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its not leaking now everything is dry. The fuel level is above the sending unit. Can theese new tanks get over filled and leaking out the top vent or something else. The whole lock ring and sending unit mount are bone dry and there over 3/4 tank of gas. -
So I installed a new tank and sending unit. Filled the truck up until it kicked off. Looked under truck fuel pouring down. Got it home thought it was coming around the sending unit. Less than a gallon out of the tank and now there's no leaks. Was it just a overfilled tank somehow. I never had that happen with the old tank.

I just replaced all 4 shocks with the monroe oespectrums. I'm not sure what's going on but it almost bounces going down the road. Its literally feels like riding on square wheels. I was hoping for alot better ride then what I have. Looking for opinions from anyone thats used these shocks. Thanks

Ive done alot of reading on fuel pumps. It seems some are having issues with fitment on the jpsu-6. I'm just curious on which pump and strainer will work.
-
Thanks for the information luckily my straps are in good shape
-
Also what fuel pump and sender. Ive read the right ones are hard to find.
-
Thanks for the info what aftermarket tank did you go with.
-
My factory tank has several rust holes in it. I was wondering if any of you have replaced your tanks and how they fit.
-
Yep 5 minutes with a multimeter and I got it. Have to say I'm happy with the lights. Glad I found the post on this forum.

I read the topic about the 7180 bulbs and wiring. It says black yellow red wiring. My 1990 comanche is pink black and black with white stripe. Wondering if any of you knew what wires do what

I'm not one to just replace parts. But I plan on keeping this truck for awhile. Wondering if I should just go ahead and replace the fuel pump and injectors. Since there probably both from 1990 -

I'm almost sure the fuel pump and injectors are original. I was wondering if the injectors may be giving me the problems I'm having -

I was saying that I had a fuel tester on the truck I tested the regulator and pump. All my numbers were good. I will try again and see if there's any changes. I tested the fuel system about 6 months ago. I was wondering I'd there was something I might of missed -

Cruiser I was thinking fuel pump trying to go out. Is there a way to test it. I put a fuel Guage on it before and tested the regular and pump. All of my numbers were good -
I am running out of ideas in what this could be. I've done all the renix tips. And you guys have helped alot. But the comanche is starting a new problem. On my way to work last week and this week. It died going 60 down the highway. Both times were about 20 miles into the trip. It starts back up and does fine. So today it died going down the highway. It started back up no other problems. Leaving the parking lot after work it died and started right back up. But then it bucked and surged quite a bit coming home at about 60mph. It's a 90 4.0 auto I'm going crazy trying to get all the gremlins worked out of this truck

I've already added an extra ground. I don't think the cables are my problem but I will replace them and see what happens
-
I'm going try replacing all the cables. With a jeepcable upgrade kit. I guess that's a place to start
-
I put new negative cables on a few years ago. I haven't redid the positive cables
-
I never can get lucky enough for an easy fix. Redid the cables checked wiring on starter. It still does the same thing
-
I will check the block ground tomorrow. Will probably go ahead and redo both cable ends. I did add an extra ground several years ago. Thanks for the help

So jeep ran fine parked it let it sit for the weekend. Go to start and clicks then no power. Charged battery and load tested. Battery is good, I tried jumping solenoid at starter. It sparks a little then nothing. The weird part is each time I try to jump or key start. It clicks one time then nothing. It acts like there is no power At all. Dome lights won't come on or anything. Until I take the ground off the battery and hook it back up then All lights come back on and it will click one time then no power again until I take the ground off the battery. Would a bad starter do that

Odd running light issue

Yes there is a trailer harness spliced in. It's just weird that the brake light and turn signal part of the light function. But the running light doesn't.
