  2. someone told me that it could be the crankshaft sensor does that sound right
  3. thanks for the suggestions guys I forgot to mention that I cleaned the IAC before I took it in and the hole. I'm stumped to driving me and the mechanic crazy
  4. well guys, the mechanic had my truck for 2 weeks now and can't figure it out. it's a 90 comanche with the 4.0. it starts up fine, will go up and down the hiway fine, but doesn't want to idle very long. he says its getting plenty of fuel and fire when it dies he thinks it's a sensor. he's tested the iac and the tps and says they're good. but he can't figure out what's wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm ready to have my jeep back.

  7. I think its probly the window seals I checked and theyve definately slid down. any place to get good replacedments. thanks for the help
  8. hey guys when i drive down the road i can hear alot of wind noise like my windows down a little but its not. ive already replaced the door seals I'm wondering what could cuase that amount of wind noise. is it common for these trucks to have alot of wind noise

I have a 90 4.0 and it has some running issues if it starts up revs high for a second and idles down it won't die. but sometmes it cranks a few times doesnt idle high then it will die this almost always when the engine is first started. but sometimes when it dies I can smell gas. it runs very smooth on the hiway just doesnt idle the greatest. ive cleaned the IAC it made no differance. driving me nuts

  11. yeah I know there not connected I meant I was looking the engine over after I got done ceaning the IAC. and I noticed the vaccume line was blocked off with a bolt and when I hooked it up to the egr it revved real high so I unkooked it and it ran fine.
  12. I cleaned my iac today and noticed that the hose that goes from the plastic t to the metal egr was blocked off. so i plugged it in when i did the truck revved really high and wouldnt stop. so i unplugged it and blocked the line again and it returned to normal. does this mean the egr is bad
  13. well guys I started working on the jeep come to find out it wasnt the fuel pump it. before I got it the inlaws put new plugs wires and rotor on it well they had the firing order wrong so 30.00 bucks later I saved a big headache and 130.00 for a new pump lol. hope my luck holds out

  15. thanx for the input guys I went ahead and bought the 90 comanche can't wait to start in on it. I saved it from a life in a barn goin to waste. truck has all the original paperwork. Ilooked it over and the good is the only rust is 1 small hole above the fender. the bad needs fuel pump emission light is on and the power steering pump is leaking. not horrible for a 21 year old truck thanx for all the input and I'm sure i will have more questions along the way. when I get time I will post some pix
  16. thanks for all the replies and believe me guys I wanted them to just sign it over to us and let me fix it but they won't. and the worst part is it just sits in a garage and goes to waste. cuz they don't want to fix it. I mean the truck has never been abused at all never even had a trailer put on it. I think I'm gona buy it and fix it just cuz I hate to see it go to waste. If I buy the truck it is not to make money it will be my daily driver and hunting truck. I just don't know anything about how dependable the jeep motor and trans were ive always had rangers.
  17. well I just wanted to know if the truck was worth what they were asking. So your reply doesnt help me at all,jimoshel. If I do get the jeep and do the fuel pump I will take the bed off. I'm not sure if I want the jeep because I don't know there value thanks for the advice
  18. Hi guys I have a chance to buy a 1990 comanche 2 wheel drive with 4.0 and auto tranny. its got a 120,000 miles on it. It was my wifes truck in high school and her family has owned it since it was new. it needs a fuel pump it has rust above the fender and clearcoat fading off. they want 500.00 for it ive never owned a jeep so i was just wondering if this would be good deal. at worst I think I may have to put 300.00 in it to get it in running shape so I would have around 800.00 total
