So ive been on the site for a little while now so i thought i would make a built thread for my beloved truck. But i have to start with a story. back when i was seven me and my dad would always mess with the families cars together. well for 400 dollars he picked up a 86 jeep comanche x with a 2.8 v6 5 speed 4wd. his was in gold. thats the truck i learned to drive stick in. the first truck we did donuts in. the first truck i got taken wheeling in. well eventually dad got tired of working on it and went the clutch let go he just sold it off. the next owner drove it though a wall (dumbass) but what started my new love for this truck was when i turned 15 and got my permit my dad said okay you saved up 1000 bucks. i want you in a 2wd automatic truck. i told him he was high. i spent maybe 5 months cruising the internet and used car lots looking for something that fit me. then one day a guy rolled into my local post office with a gunmetal gray comanche. i looked at it dents and went thats a cool truck. i asked him about it he said "its my old hunting truck and she just went on her last trip. I'm putting her on craigslist when i get home". i asked how much he said he had new tires on it so 1700 i went damn i only have 1100 held together. he said well i have the old street tires still. i can swap them back over and you can take it for 1100. from then on it was love. It was just like my dads. except the color. from then on i drove the wheels off the thing. literally. Here goes the photo gallery :D

My tube bumper that i built from the pictures i got from this very forum

My most recent investment a set of 15x10 cragars and new 31s to give it that posed trophy truck look I'm going for

And this weekend I'm diving into the world of lifts going with a 3 inch front coil with rear 2 inch warrior shackles and rough country shocks. Thanks for reading :D :wrench:

Nice job so far!

Are you still running the 2.8? if so I've got an Edelbrock Torker II intake & Mallory distributor I would give you.

Heck you can have the whole block, trany & transfer case if you want it

I don't know anything about them cause my 86 wasn't running when I got it but the price is right!

well ive been so busy with the truck ive had no time to update my thread. so here we go. about 3 weeks ago i was pulling a trailer going down I5 to go pick up a gokart(pics will be added) on the way there we were doing 75 and suddenly it started popping and jerking. me and my buddy look at eachother, pull over, and check everything out. the temp gauge was pegged. i checked the oil for cream. it was clean. went okay? started it and it idled like crap. went hmmmm. adjusted the timing and had my buddy give it a rev it blew black smoke then blue smoke. well i said every swear word i knew and then finished the trip. and we pick up this.

so now i picked up a new motor for 150 bucks pulled the heads to find it was rebuilt have been unreasonably excited. i ordered an edelbrock performer intake, cam, and some comp cam roller rockers a lifters. now I'm ordering about 700 bucks in parts and embarking on a search for a new ax5 and ill be golden. i might get to enjoy my tube doors this summer.

because i don't want to convert it quite yet. and the 2.8s do alright they just have a bad reputation. that coupled with the fact that i can't find a decent donor cherokee and if i do swap it its gonna be with zero mile parts rebuilt engines and everything. i can't see the point in putting a motor with miles on it.

so got everything in got it fired up and have been fighting a lot of small failures. when it fired up it wouldnt idle and sounded like a missing cylinder. went to pull apart the ignition and the coil went up in flames. got the coil replaced and the ignition control module went out. replaced that and the starter and battery took a header. for the moment I'm out of money and just frustrated till wednesday. for now I'm gonna play with the hood i have laying around for a scoop/induction setup.
