Headlights and taillights?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to upgrade my harness and put IPF headlight assemblys and IPF bulbs. What are the suggestions on bulbs and what wattage? I heard the fat boy bulbs are great. I put new sealed beams in and the street lights put out more noticeable light to me. Also is there going to be a difference in brightness on my taillights? You can tell when you hit the brake but they don't have the output of a newer vehicle. Anyone upgraded with the factory tails? Also some of the harnesses seem way cheaper than others, what is the best route to go? Thanks, John Paul comanche.gif

Bulb wattage in the 55-60 range is good. Hella and Phillips are good brands.

For dual filament bulbs as in tail/turn signal/brakes, I use 2357s. They're a heavy duty version of the old 1157s and are brighter. I've tested them side by side at night.

For single filament bulbs like reverse lights, I use 795 bulbs. They have the base of the old 1034 with a halogen globe on them.

As for general brightness, it's always good to polish your lenses. I use Meguiar's plexiglass cleaner followed by their polish.

First...go with an upgrade harness with relays ( eauto.com ) to eliminate voltage loss from thin wires carrying full load all the way from H/L switch to the lights . It's plug and play simple and the results are excellent . Along with Hella E-codes and standard H-4 bulbs you will have daylight any time you want
