Twisty
i just swapped in some shafts out of a 1996 XJ with 297 joints, and don't need the disco feature anymore. whats a good way to deal with the vaccume lines? should i but them off, stick somthing in there and zip-tie it shut? any other ideas? bwatsoncj
just take the whole actuator off. its just the 4 bolts, a gentle tap or pry and it comes right off. make up a cover out of steel or aluminum. take the gasget mark it out on the matreial, drill your holes. take any burrs off, slap on some rtv or silicone. Oizarod115
now, i've often wondered about this, disco axles have 3 seals on the right side don't they? so if you run a solid shaft, won't it leak cause it doesnt have the places on the shaft for the seal to seat on? or am i :chillin:

carnuck
Early ones don't have an inner seal. You have to buy a special seal from someplace like Randy's Ring and Pinion http://ringpinion.com
BLHTAZ
what i was wondering about was the 3 vaccume lines that come from the transfer case...what do i do about those? When I did this to our YJ, I removed all the vacuum lines and plugged off the connections with those little rubber vacuum caps that you can buy at most any auto parts store. I left the vacuum switch in the t-case and just put the rubber caps on all 4 of hte ports to keep any trash from getting in it.
