Will 4 cycl. gauges work in a 4.0??

Question in the subject line. I have been lookin for another full gauge cluster. Just curious if one out of 4cycl will work in a 4.0??? Thanks

I don't think I have ever seen full gauges come with a 2.5l ,I imagine if they did they would swap over the same way 4.0l gauges swap to a 2.5l

The gauges work the same except that the tachometer needs to be recalibrated. The 88 - 90 tach has a potentiometer that allows you to adjust it -- the early tachs do NOT have an adjustment so the tach has to match the engine.

Some 87s have the adjustment on the tach as well. At least the one I swapped into the Purple People Eater did. It came out of an 87 XJ Wagoneer, has the blue letters and everything.

IMHO I wouldn't even bother trying to adjust it. There are tons of clusters still available that will just drop right in. There were several "blue plastic" clusters with tach and gauges at my local jy last time I was there. Mine cost 30 bucks.
