rocketwheels
OK, here's the plot... right front blinker/parking light does not come on when parking lights are turned on. Same light does not blink when asked to (replaced the front bulb 2057NA and both rears2057 to be sure not a goofy bulb issue)The dash indicator just glows solid and the rears will flash by moving the blinker switch. Here is the funny part, same light will blink when Hazards are applied, BUT!!, if you turn on the parking lights and the Hazards at the same time, the front turn signals "wig-wag" like police headlights. I know that the Hazards are a different circuit, and this is probably a grounding/short issue, especially since the wigwag effect happened. I have inspected the wiring harness as best as possible without removing the front cap. Is there a chassis ground pigtail on one of these harnesses? Were would it be located? I couldn't find one anywhere visible. ..all right, I just thumbed thru previous threads and found the "lights from hell" notes. The dash light does glow faintly, so I will check the front sockets really well. I did look them over in the setting sun this evening. they looked fine, but a closed inspection will come in the morning sunlight. I need another beer!

Both top ones are the parking lights, stop lights, and turn signals. Alot of people have put a 1156 single filament bulb in one of them because alot of parts stores and the owners manual says the turn signals in the rear take a 1156 bulb which is incorrect. It was a misprint in the 1986 owners manual. I don't know about the new manuals. The turn signals are not seperate. Make sure both top bulbs are 2057 bulbs. If there is a 1156 in one of them instead it crosses both contacts over and causes all kinds of problems like the lights blinking back through the truck when the turn signals are on and other stuff. The bottom bulbs for the backup lights are supposed to be 1156 bulbs. The turn signals will blink all the parking lights on the dash and on the whole truck. This sort of sounds like what you're have with the lights blinking back and forth, but it's possible that it's a ground issue which is pretty common too. It really sounds like a ground issue somewhere. It could be one of the sockets that's bad. Hope this info helps.

rocketwheels
....it was the sockets, they looked good but I replaced them with a duplicate set I found at O'reileys autoparts (labeled as ford replacement), everything is good to go. Thanks guys !! Great place to come to for problem solveing !! :wrench:
