jimoshel Posted January 25, 2012 Share Posted January 25, 2012 It can go both ways but usually stays with the tranny.Some times but not always, the converter will have different stall speeds for the engine, a 4 cylinder having a higher stall speed than a V8. Jeep Driver Posted January 26, 2012 Share Posted January 26, 2012 I would leave the converter with the trany when installing. Then turn crank when bolting flex to converter. Edit. Now I understand why you ask........ I don't think it matter to the tranny which converter to which tranny, however I would make sure the converter is in the trans and aligned with the trans when mounting the trans to the engine to avoid any damage to the seal or other misalignment problems internally.
