mrjman9442 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 OK, I have just recently bought my first jeep comanche. Its an '88 Laredo and the key is stuck in the ignition and won't turn back far enough to get to the lock position so i can pull it out. Any help on how to fix this so i can actually get my key out? I have already tried replacing the lock and cylinder but the new one does the same as the old one. Helpful information would be greatly appreciated.
Geonovast Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Are you pushing down on the release key just behind the cylinder?
ratrapp Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 is it an a/t?if so the shift interlock may be binding not allowing the key to come all the back.mine does this occasionally.
STERLING STINGER Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 ^^^Thats exactly what it is.^^^ Were looking for the write up but can't find it
STERLING STINGER Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 if your looking to adjust the ignition switch, here's what response i got on another post....hope it helps.......(yes its adjustable, the best way to get at it is to remove the lower dash bezel for better access. It will be on top of the column and the high beam switch will also be attached to the column with the ignition switch. Just do a google search its pretty common.)
