88AMComanche
Are the 91 Comanches the same under the hood as say an 86? or the same as an 89? or even an 88? Just wondering.....Under my hood on my 88, its like spheggetti. Insane vaccuum line, wiring harness ran random places to who knows what. strange items i don't even know what they are. COMPLICATED . I have to wonder.......if its abit of technical overkill. My friend told me in 88 AMC were in the process of merging with Chrystler or whatever,so they were doing funky things and the end result is whats under my hood. Just wondering.....if I found a 91 Comanche ,would under the hood be any neater or less "clutter" ?
KYMJ
91 and up is HO, I believe, and less vacuum lines than Renix. All I've owned(Comanches) have been Renix, just going by pics and other JEEPS I've owned.
Garvin
Under the hoods are completely different wiring wise between '86, '88, and '91. '86 had the 2.8L V6 instead of the 4.0L I6 for starters and was carbureted. Chrysler did buy Jeep in '88 but didn't really touch them till '91 when they swapped to their own fuel injection system and the I6 got designed the HO. The wiring harnesses are completely different as well as a lot of the plugs for the sensors, the computer was moved from under the dash to under the hood, and it was essentially swapped to an OBDI system. There were many other little changes also.
Pete M
before you get too obsessed with de-cluttering your engine bay, you might want to learn what each thing does. some are more important than others.
