I had a funny feeling that is what you were doing.

Also funny - I was speaking with a guy that hunts around my shop and he took notice of all of the Jeeps I have scattered about and asked me if I was familiar with his Jeep. I said, "Yep, CRD Liberty...only made 2005 and 2006." He asked if I wanted to buy it. Told him I wasn't in the market, but I knew a guy that loves them, but he's in Colorado (speaking about you, Sir Sam).

You could have put a dolly on the CRD you were hauling and towed his back to CO. Nice shape and a nice dark blue color. No clue what he wanted for the thing, though.

Edit: Way to stop by my place, jerk :D

I don't know how I could have afforded to buy a running crd. I got on the road as soon as I could. Loaded it up and started driving, only a few hours from the Colorado border now. c

Got home at 3am last night, this morning we got the jeep off the trailer and up into the driveway, the jeep starts, but the engine sounds all off, I think maybe it skipped a couple of teeth and fubared some rockers, maybe i'll get lucky and it will be fixable without having to use my spare engine. I will do a compression test next and see if that tells me anything.

Best case its a valve cover pull and TB change, worst case its an engine pull(and using one of my spare engines). Right now I am hopefully optimistic.

Now I need to add up diesel receipts and see how much I paid for this thing. :dizzy: I already have $2400 in the uhaul and jeep.

$400 for a uhaul tow dolly and I only needed it for 18 hours.

Is this going to be another flipped vehicle or is it going to be a project? Love following your work.

Flipped vehicle, as soon as it runs good it's up for sale. 8)

Did they put the manual trannys in the CRDs? (It would make sense to me if they did) I know they stopped offering them all together after the first year of the current generation Liberty.

Anyway, whats the transmission status on this particular CRD you acquired? M/T or Auto?

All CRDs came with an auto. That part about making sense should have told you that DC -wouldn't- do something like that. :D

Meh, it would seem to me a "foreign" marketed, or European to U.S. market car moreover, would have been offered with a standard transmission. But... Daimler failed on many, many levels, especially in regards to Chrysler. So, I'm not surprised.

this is auto. US only got autos for the two years these were sold. the US has stricter diesel emissions than europe, and they are easier to meet in the autos. the manuals they sold in europe were actually detuned a little bit compared to the autos(to meet emissions standards)

Some of the newest european diesels don't even come with manuals at all in europe, easier to meet emissions, can put more power down to the ground, more gears, better fuel economy in most cases. etc etc.

Its a flipped vehicle for sure, hopefully I can get a big payday from it.

Here's a video of the noise its making:

95x7NiozPB0

Dude.

That's Nasty.

Seriously though, any new thoughts or outlook?

The fact that it runs this much tells me its probably not too bad, at least maybe not whole new engine bad, i;m thinking it skipped a tooth on the timing belt and much just be off a little, or it might have collapsed some rockers.

gotta tear into it an see.

Well I got the intake off, nothing obvious in the valvetrain is wrong, can't see the valves/valve seats from here, so since I can't see anything wrong tomorrow I guess I get to pull the head off and see what the bottom of the head looks like.

That is unless you guys have any thoughts for me before I pull it, I'm really wishing I had a fiber optic camera right now, I saw one for sale at costco for like $180 or so last week, pricey little bugger, but it could come in handy at times like this.
