88AMComanche Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Does anyone know if 3 month old gas thats been sitting wil;l cause the engine to almost stall when you takeoff like at a lite or a dead stop? after its going & the RPMs are up it runs great, just when taking off I have to barely give it any gas. otherwise it will try & stall. I used some old 3 month old gas thats been in my garage in a can. it WAS good gas when i bought it. I put some SEAFOAM in the tank, but that was 4 miles ago with no improvement.

tugalo Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 My 88 bogs down on acceleration, but then "catches" and runs fine. I have some degree of timing chain slack and I think that is what is causing the bogging.
Backdraft Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Check your throttle body and make sure its clean inside. I had the same issue on a Cherokee and mine was gummed up bad with black crap. Pulled the TB and cleaned it then never had the same problem.
