MJRemi Posted April 26, 2011 Share Posted April 26, 2011 My fuse panel was destroyed by the leaky C/MC and is being professionally replaced with a Cadillac fuse panel and relocated to the passenger side. I wanted to replace the C/MC with a new OEM but Dealership says they are "no longer available". I've heard only bad things about after market C/MC, so does anyone know of any other (new) OEM make/model that has the same dimensions and port size? If not, I'll go with the ACDelco from Rockauto. 64 Cheyenne Posted April 26, 2011 Share Posted April 26, 2011 OEM from the stealership for an XJ, if you have to you can cut the plastic line, use compression fittings to mate it to the metal line. Myself, I just use aftermarket, keep an eye on it. On another note, I'm interested in Quote: is being professionally replaced with a Cadillac fuse panel and relocated to the passenger side. How, why, pics, cost etc. as I've never heard of this being done. Are you sure it isn't a big money roller coaster ride? Is not going to cost more than the truck is worth (going this route). I know we spend a lot on our trucks, I'm over 5K on my 87 and I still only drove it once when I got it so being in the eye of the beholder is it worth it? jimoshel Posted April 27, 2011 Share Posted April 27, 2011 About 6 months back I replaced the CMC in 3 MJ'S and 2 XJ'S using after market rebuilts. So far no problems. MJRemi Posted April 27, 2011 Author Share Posted April 27, 2011 The auto electrician I hired is very familiar with Jeeps and was going to use a ZJ panel but it was crappy when delivered. He said he has done custom rigs using GM panels and he had the Caddy fuse box ready to go. This panel has a cover and a custom "release" bracket so I can lower it from under the passenger side dash. He is also including a diagram and schematic of the panel to map the fuses. He is not charging any more than we originally agreed to. I'll take some photos this weekend and post up.
