wthayer
hello, i have a 1988 comanche 2wd. i want to put 235x75x15 tires on it. i have 225x75x15 on factory rims now. i want to put 15x7 rims on it with the new tires. does anyone know what bakspacing i will need? i would like them to stick out a little but i don't want to lift it. thanks
Oizarod115
if you're planning to lift it in the future then i would suggest to go with an 8inch rim, but if not 7 is fine... not sure on BS though.
Twisty
what rims do you have now? you probably have 15x7. with 235's the tires will rub on the LCA's a tad...not much at all. i use stock wheels and i have 235's on both of my jeeps.
feerocknok
A 7" rim is a good width rim for holding a bead. I wouldn't go any wider on a tire so narrow.
Eagle
To confirm what Twisted said ... unless your rims are the stock, base model steel rims they are 15x7. The stock backspacing is 5-1/4" and there are NO aftermarket rims that match that. Most will be either 4" or 4-1/2" backspacing. That's NOT a good idea, because they won't allow the tires to fit inside the fenders when the suspension compresses. You'll be banging the tires into the flares. The stock rims have enough backspacing that they stuff the tires inside the fenders.

wthayer
my rims are the same as "attaboybob"s truck.
Eagle
my rims are the same as "attaboybob"s truck. I don't know what "attaboybob"s truck looks like. Steel rims have the size stamped into them right next to the valve stem. Take a close look, it'll be stamped either 15x6 or 15x7
wthayer
i just found crager wheels 5 on 4.5" 15x7 5" backspace $34.99 from quadratech. these should do the job. they are only 1/4" difference in backspace from factory rims. thanks for all the info.
