brake lights and dash light fuse

Recommended Posts

Probably, but you said your running lights don't work either. Fuses are cheap. Buy a fuse kit with a tester in it and test every fuse in your panel. Replace as you go and it shouldn't take more than ten minutes. If new fuses doesn't solve the problem then check your bulbs and connectors at the suspect locations. These old connectors can corrode and need replacing sometimes.

the guy that i bought the comanche from put some sticky stuff in the sockets of the bulbs so they wouldnt wiggle out. The sticky stuff worked but now i have none of that sticky stuff and bulbs keep falling out also. what was that sticky $#!&??

I would bet it is Dielectric (spelling ?) grease. It does 2 things, one it keeps water out of the socket, and two it reduces the vibration of the bulb allowing it to live longer. This stuff has been used in semi trucks for years. You can wipe it out with a cotton tipped swab dipped in alcohol or brake cleaner. The stuff can get pretty solid after a few years.
