kyleag89
How much lift will the 2" chevy drop shackles actually give me? Do they actually lift the leaves 2" or just 1" total?
Pete M
they should raise your truck up about 2" higher than now.
mvusse
2" Chevy drop shackles will lift a Cherokee about 2". They will lift a Comanche about 3/4".
Pete M
are you positive? I'd really like to get this straight once and for all. :(
mvusse
Not positive about the 2" lift on a Cherokee, but the 3/4" on a Comanche is from personal experience on both of my Comanches. I installed a set on the trail rig, and recently I removed a set from my DD. And for the math: The shackle is only ~2" longer than a Comanche shackle. That would lift a Comanche 1" IF the axle was centered on the spring. But it isn't; it's closer to a 40/60 split. That would give you 0.8". And then the angles of the spring and the shackle come into play and it gets real tricky. Simple tape measure to the rescue: 0.75" give or take 1/8. kyleag89
Thanks for the replies. I guess an AAL is the better way to go then. How much lift will the MJ get with a full length AAL?
A-man930
yep, the Chevy drop shackles will give you 3/4" or so on the bottom (er, top) bolt hole. Mine have two holes. I didn't use the upper hole for fear of changing the pinion angle too much.
