veritas4156
Really weird symptoms the past few days. Left the truck at home for the weekend, come back, and now I don't have power steering. Only to the left. To the right its fine. Fluid is full, looks like the pump is functioning. All I can think of is the steering stabilizer might be messed up somehow. Anyone ever see this before? mj Mike
not the steering stabilizer! you don't need that it just masks small vibrations. and if you still have power steering it must be the power steering box saginaw box rebuild- how to http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=570869 good info!
dasbulliwagen
Theres a little valve in the steering box that allows pressure to go min the direction its needed when you turn the wheel, I think its called a spool valve. Anyways, if it gets stuck or full of crap it will only allow pressure to go in one direction instead of both. Looks like youll need a new steering box. veritas4156
damn. Time to try something stupid. If it works, I'll be good. If it doesn't, I'll just eliminate the power steering temporarily(box is already shot anyway it seems like) and grow massive forearm muscles. veritas4156
Actually, I have a can of that seafoam power steering flush stuff laying around. I was gonna throw some kerosene in there. Maybe I'll use the seafoam.
mkbruin
If you go with a swap, might as well upgrade to a 98/99 Dakota 4x4 box.

veritas4156
Better ratio and beefier. A friend of mine did it on his XJ and absolutely loved it.

mkbruin
whats the difference in the boxes? dave Yep. Beefier box, quicker ratio. Bolt-in. If you are goign to drop in a new/reman box, there is no reason not to go this route.
