86ComancheXNate Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I went to a shop to get an allingment done and theysaid my track bar was broke and showed my the slop in mine and that they couldn't do the allignment with out getting a new one. I was wondering if having a track bar was optional. I've heard it is with sme jeeps.
Pete M Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 that would only work on leaf sprung vehicles. on yours, the track bar is what lets you turn.
Automan2164 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 A track bar is essential. Without it, your axle would just move back and fourth under the truck. Its what holds it in side to side so that the pitman arm doesn't just push the axle back and fourth. Rob L.
jpnjim Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Nope. Trac Bars could be considered optional in some leaf spring setups, like YJ's, Big Fords, and I think Waggy's got them too. Coil spring Jeep front ends need the track bar (if you want to steer anyway).
