rnobles
I pulled the rod bearings this weekend and took them to my parts guy for replacements. He said that from the looks of them i may need to have the crank turned. the bearings were pretty worn mostly copper showing with some grooves. What should i look for on the crank to determine if i should have it turned. 153,000+ on the motor if that means anything......
MiNi Beast
well crank should be smoother then a baby's butt, if have some groves or ridges then that will just eat up you bearings and in 6 months have same issue all over again. happens sometimes with lack of maintenance with the oil of just junk oil and dirt gets in there and also just long over due wear and tear. If to bad can just pick up another crank and go from there. but turning it I wouldn't think be more then $100 if that.
mnkyboy
Run your finger nail across the journal,if you feel anything get it turned. Any ridge and it might not accept new bearings
