88swampedmj Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 i was lookin for a ax15 and the tcase, but just learned that the ba10/5 is geared a little lower? is it?... if thats true i may just get another ba10 or rebuild mine stronger..
Pete M Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 You can't build a Ba-10 any stronger. The case itself is weak. If you're looking for a lower first gear, I think the newer 3500 and 3550 may be what you're looking for. First gear for the AX-15 is 3.83 and I believe the 2550 had a 4.04 or something like that. The NSG 370 six-speed has a 4.46. :D
88swampedmj Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 that 6 speed looks tempting, i wonder what id need to do to get it to mate up to my I6.. would i need a different transfercase.. ?
87manche Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 the 6 speed is physically a larger box. You'd probably have to rework the tunnel sheetmetal and the trans crossmember.
Pete M Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 are the expensive and hard to find????? The 6-speeds have only been around a couple years now, so yes.
JohnQ Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I've been tempted to gut my 2005 Rubicon and put the whole drive train on my MJ! :brows:
88swampedmj Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 if i had a rubicon i would do that haha
Oizarod115 Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 besides the weakenss and all this other stuff.... whoever told you it was geared lower was wrong... ax15 1st gear 3.83 ba10 1st gear 3.39
88swampedmj Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 oh.. hmm i may be lookin for a ax15 at the yard again...
Oizarod115 Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 yep, they prolly just had their eggs mixed up... AX15 is definately the most efficient method of replacement.
