pug
This is the pipe from manifold to catalytic converter. Mine broke below the flange by manifold. Can this be welded for a temporary fix. 1990 2.5 part # 44680 walker front pipe do not have a picture. I order one it is back order 2 weeks. thanks
jimoshel
It can be welded, temporary or permanent. Use a mild rod, not high carbon.
pug
Would it be better if pipe was on or off vehichle. I am having somebody else do the welding. thanks
mnkyboy
Shouldn't matter as long as they can get in there to weld it. Why not just take it to a muffler shop, probably cost you $20 to have it fixed
jimoshel
It can be done either way. However it is better off the truck as that way they can weld all around the tube evenly rather than trying to weld 'sideways' on the top.
1987Comanche
That pipe broke 3X on my '87 2.5, each time at the rear flange. 1st time was a quick weld repair, 2nd time was a jy pipe, 3rd time I cut the 2 pipes, fit to length, and welded them together on the truck. The welds would have been prettier if it was off the truck...getting the geometry right was a bear though. It was fine until I sold her. If you need a pipe I have the front 3/4 of one in the basement.
