Incommando
Can you put three people across the back seat of an XJ? The current ages are 10, 7, & 6. How long do you think the would fit back there?
terrawombat
Easily. I've done it on multiple occasions with drunks. Their current ages are 23, 25, & 26 with a total combined weight of 500 lbs. We just went from bar to bar. I wouldn't want to go any longer than a half hour with the three people I had (for multiple reasons), but with the ages you listed, you should be able to go wherever you need to. Motion Offroad
It depends honestly. Are your kids still in a booster seat? With a kid in a car seat (2yrs) and our daughter just recently getting out of a booster; their wasn't much room (if any) for a 3rd kid back there in the center. It helps a lot now that she's out of the booster. 3 kids without boosters you should be fine; but with any of them in a booster it may be a little cramped. I'd say you have similar room in the XJ width wise as you do in your KJ. -Adam
Incommando
I can do 1 in a booster and 2 out in the KJ. I am exploring some options
87Warrior
There is a classic XJ commecial online somewhere that brags about seating 5 adults comfortably. They showed the back seat and the fellow in the middle is all contorted! Rather hilarious. 3 kids across the back of a 4 door should be no problem. The 2 door feels narrow in the back due to how the plastic side molding is configured.
Geonovast
I packed a 13 year old, a 10 year old, and a 1 year old in a carseat for the 9 hour drive up and 9 hours drive down from Wisconsin, and the two older ones didn't complain.
COMJNUT
grew up with the parents having XJ's. Dad's was a 2 door and mom's was a 4 door. As teenagers, we fit...it was a little tight, but we still fit and had many great road trips.

It was a 2 door, and a PITA for me and my brother to get in and out of, but it was fun to ride in. If I'd only known back then what I know now, we'd probably still be driving it instead of it going to the scrapyard for pretty much no reason.
