'86 Comanche project. what carb will work for 2.8L v6?

Recommended Posts

I bought this jeep for $200 bucks. It has no carburetor in it and surprisingly the whole jeep is rust free. It has about 340k miles.

I did some research and found the engine is made by GM? would any GM 2.8 v6 2 barrel carb work for this jeep?

It has been in a small accident before and needs a new header panel/blinker lens.

has been sitting for 2-3 years and needs tires, paint, carb, a few interior parts, etc. my main concern now is just to get it running. :wall:

2wd long bed 2.8L v6 3 speed auto.

x2. especially on upgrading if possible.

what's wrong with the current carb? could it just need a rebuild?

if you highlight the address, then click the IMG tag above the text box, the photos should show up.

It has no carburetor in it. the person i bought it from has thrown the carburetor out. I forgot what he said was broken inside it but he said he couldn't fix it with a rebuild kit. So I need to buy a carburetor. Would any 2 barrel 2.8 v6 gm carburetor work?

there really aren't many good "bolt-on" carbs.

to do a decent carb on it, you'd buy an edelbrock 4bbl intake for the 60 degree v6, and a holly 390cfm 4bbl carb.

but, you can get a decent amount of pep and some increased mpg simply by eliminating half of the vacuum shtuff on the carb.
