2wd leafs on a 4x4 ?

Recommended Posts

it's really not that bad. I'm running 2wd leafs on my 88. 4wd leafs in good shape can net closer to 6" of lift depending. you can make up any loss of lift by cutting the eyes off your current main leafs and inserting them right under the new mains. (also helps combat spring wrap)

If the 2wd leafs are in good shape, I'd go for it.

pay no attention to the front of my truck :D (unless you wanna try to adapt the ford radius arm suspension) everything up there is custom.

f-150 coils are too stiff. mine are aftermarket MJ/XJ coils.

150 bucks is stealing. did you try car-part.com ?

car DASH part.com

those aren't replacements for your broken leaf. In fact, you're likely to break other leafs if you install those in place of the #3 leaf in your pack. they won't properly support the #2 leaf.

And ...?

Shane, I'm 66 years old, I have an astigmatism, and I DON'T have a monitor the size of a garage door. On my screen your arrow points to a dark blotch.

How's about using words? Like "Yes," or "no" or "the one directly under the main leaf"?

the arrow points to leaf #3 (the bottom thin one).

How close to the arch of MJ springs would the arch of YJ Wrangler springs be? I would think it should be easy to find a Wrangler in a junkyard, and there must be something in a Wrangler leaf pack that's at least as long as the #3 in an MJ pack.

can't say for sure, but wrangler leafs are fairly flat. maybe not as flat as an XJ, but certain have less arch than an MJ. As I found out with my experimenting, that third leaf is crucial for holding up an MJ. pulling it makes the leafpack flatten out quite a bit. :(

I still say the original poster just needs to find a better junkyard. that one is a ripoff.

http://www.jmw4x4.com/inventory/retail.htm seems to have a few sets.
