Engine missing when accelerating

This is a new problem. When I'm accelerating at a fairly aggressive rate especially in third and fourth around the 2500 to 3000rpm range, the engine feels like it's missing. I can feel the truck sort of jerk a little. It's hard to explain. I don't feel it when I'm just accelerating normally such as regular city street driving.

 

Where do I start to try and diagnose this?

Start simple with a basic tune up. How old are the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, & fuel filter? Plugs & wires are cheap & cause a lot of problems.

Plugs are probably 5 years old. Wires at least that old and I don't have any idea how old the fuel filter is. I'll start with that.
