I bought an 88 with a high output 4.0 transplanted in it, and I can't believe how tight it is front to back... There's no room for a clutch fan, I'm using the Ford Taurus electric fan. gogetemturbo Posted November 16, 2006 Share Posted November 16, 2006 The sheet metal change was in 87. 86 they had the V6, 87 the 4.0L Renix came out, which had firewall diferences and the front core support/cross piece changed. But in 87 some (all?) of the 4 bangers had the 86 old style, with the old style radiator. They may have kept this going for the 88s as well? I think it depends on how many left over bodies they had laying around after they went to the 4.0L. What motor did the rig have in it originally? I bet it was the 4 banger...
