Greetings everyone, I am looking to buy a Comanche, 4X4, shortwheel base, 4.0. I would prefer a mostly stock truck. I have never owned a Jeep of any flavor, so I got a learning curve to get over. :dunno: I need a daily driver. I would like to take it fishing, hunting, and off roading every now and then. Thanks.

Welcome neighbor!!

There is not many of us around here, in fact i bought mine in Las Vegas & drug it here. Believe it or not they pop up quite often on Craigslist.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have been looking for a Comanche locally. I missed one Saturday morning by a few minutes. It sold in twenty four hours. A man in east Dallas listed it on craigslist. The fourth one on your list is sold I am guessing, no response from him. I may look at the third one on the list. I have a few tools but no shop to do major repair or mods. Is it mandatory that I have shop before buying a Jeep ;) You guys are doing some serious modifications on your trucks! I am looking for a stock truck. That will soon change right?

Raoden83, What do you think about number four on your list? If one could get this truck for the "right" price, Would it be a good candidate for an inline six? I do not know all that would be needed. Wiring harness? Engine control? Transfer case? Transmission? High output motor? This process would not be out my league, but it would be a slow go. :dunno: Bill.

From what I've read on here you would have to change the radiator support and the firewall to get the 4.0 in there. By the way it's an '86 model, Comanches were launched July 1, 1985 as '86 models.

  • 5 months later...

I have an 89 jeep pioneer for sell. It is my daily driver, but it is 4.5 inches from being stock. Still its reliable and clean. Only 87,000 original miles on it (you won't find that anywhere else). But because of it my asking price is a higher than those craigslist postings, but if you come see the truck I'm sure you'll understand why. I'm asking 6,500 OBO but since you are so close I'd consider an offer. I'm in Arlington. Here is a picture of the truck.
