Dave Stark Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I'm replacing the ball joints on my new (to me) Dana 30 axle & wanted to see if anyone has ever toyed with adjustable ball joints. They are considerably more expensive, but if that means doing the job right then so be it. The old ones are already off & I am glad i pulled them, they were completely shot. While doing the 4X4 conversion to my truck I'll be installing a 4 1/2'' Hell Creek / Rough Country lift (already have), & 33 ~ 34" tires. "91, 4.0, AX15, NP231 Thanks... ~Dave :wavey:
SW86 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 hurry up and install that lift! I'm waiting to see how it works out for you before i buy it myself. I'm a little weary of the SUA lift but i guess itll be alright.
Bounty Hunter Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 What do you mean by 'toyed' with them? Are you asking about the offset balljoints used to correct camber problems?
Comanche County Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 If you do a bit of research you'll probably find similar reviews of them that that led me to ultimately decide that they aren't worth it. Essentially, they cost too much and wear out much sooner than regular ball joints. However, you can get offset ball joints in .5 degree increments up to 2 degrees. Here's a couple of links that may help: http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoAlignment.htm http://www.madxj.com/MADXJ/technical/te ... joints.htm If you buy the beer I'll drive up the the Metroplex and help you out.

I'm a little weary of the SUA lift but i guess itll be alright. The quality of parts in the lift are outstanding, it will be a while before I'm ready to have the truck drivable, but i would already recommend the kit. What do you mean by 'toyed' with them? Are you asking about the offset balljoints used to correct camber problems? Yes, i was wondering if they are really necessary, or if the factory setup will be sufficient. I may have to take you up on that offer, none of my friends around here want anything to do with this truck, but i'm sure they will want to go for rides in it when it's done. ~Dave
Comanche County Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 They're not true friends if they don't like your Comanche!
Dave Stark Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 They like it, they just don't want to work on it...
terrawombat Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I was under the impression that adjustable ball joints were only necessary for front axles that are bent, tweaked, or were screwed up from the factory.
