JClark89
not sure the year of the rubicon but they are 16" rims 5 X 4.5 i know the rims will fit fine i just wonder if i could put the tires on it?
jpdocdave
then its a tj rubicon i believe. Those tires are probably 31, I can't remember for sure. I think they'll be a hair too big. I ran 30" Mud Terrain tires on mine and they barely fit, and rubbed on full right turns.
Pete M
4wd MJ? it'll be real close. some 31s on stock rims can fit a stock 4wd MJ with a bit of rubbing on the lower control arms. This can be alleviated by adjusting the steering stops or swapping in WJ lower control arms. 31s on Jeep rims with WJ arms on my 90 4x4:
Incommando
They are 245/75/16's (if stock) and run about 30.6" tall and almost 9.5" wide. TJ rims will bolt on, but if they are original Rubi MT/R's they are, IMHO, a crappy crappy tire on the road/wet/snow and have balance issues for sure. JClark89
Yes my Comanche is a 1986 Comanche X 4x4 long bed
CWLONGSHOT
TJ ruby rims have a bit less BS to better fit with the wider tire. It is known that a 30x9.50x15 fits very well on a factory rim. MOST are also able to run a 31x10.5x15 with minor LCA contact at full lock. These ruby tires and rims are bascilly 31's and "should" fit ok. Try them and see if you like them, worst case you get a bit of contact on the LCA in tite turns. IMHO thay are very nice looking on a MJ!!! magellan
When we lifted my nephew's TJ Unlimited Rubicon, I swapped his tires and wheels to my stock '89 MJ for a few days. With normal street driving there was no rub anywhere even at full lock. I liked the way they looked, but I didn't want 16" rims because of the replacement tire cost. These were the factory Rubicon Goodyear tires with about 16,000 miles on them. With my 5-spoke 15x7 TJ rims and 30x9.5 BFG All-Terrains, I get rub on the lower control arm at left lock but not right. What's the scoop on the WJ lower control arms? Do they bend in for clearance? Are they the same length as the MJ arms? What years interchange? Pete M
same length as MJ arms. you just need to nip off the steel bushing ends that you can see poking out in this pic.
