beaterheep Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 looking to lift the manche, need either the rear bolt on soa or some lift leafs, anyone have anything?
mvusse Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I myself had been wanting a bolt on SOA kit, but it is cheaper to buy perches and shock mounts (got mine from Ruffstuff Specialties and been very happy with them), bolt everything together under your truck, buy a buddy with a welder a six pack to tack them on and them take it to a welding shop to have them burned on permanently. You can even leave the stock SUA perches in place so you can go back at a later time.
Garvin Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 All I did for the real SOA was cut down the pin sticking out the bottom of the leaf pack so it'd fit into the bracket on the spring perch, slap a Cherokee axle under, reused the u-bolts out of the Cherokee and swapped sides with the leaf plates (forget the exact name for them, it's where the u-bolts go into against the spring). My leaf plates had shock mounts on them, the reason to swap sides was to keep the shocks in the same spot. This is only a tempt axle for my Jeep, though, as I'm going with one tons within the next year.
Automan2164 Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 The spring location of an XJ and an MJ are not the same width. I would not recommend the above AT ALL. Rob L.
Garvin Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 They might not be exact, but the one I slapped in there is pretty darn close. I only had to fidangle the spring maybe 1/4 of an inch at most to get it to seat on one side.
mvusse Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 I can't see your eye bushings lasting very long like that.
Geonovast Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Very good way to twist shackles and break leaves too. DO NOT use and XJ axle with XJ perches and just bolt it on SOA.
